I'm not sure who exactly I should complain to and have written a letter to the council to ask for advice.

A friend who does a lot of property investing believes that I should hire a reputable interior decorator to do the work, and bill the owner, but there's no guarantee that he'll agree to pay.

It took four months to fix the hole

I've just found out that the initial damage was caused on 30th October 2006 (hence the backdated post).

So it took four months for Ascent Loft Conversions to fix the hole that they put in my wall. I suppose that since they were not getting paid for the work, they had no reason to do it promptly, or to even bother doing it properly. SMT SMT.

Hole fixed, but Ascent Loft Conversions didn't do a good job

After waiting over two months, and with what in my view was a lot of prodding, the hole has been fixed.

Unfortunately, it really does look like a hole that has been patched up. The patch is noticeably rougher than the rest of the wall. And the new paint contrasts with the older paint.

I know this is all rather petty, but when I sell the flat in a few years time, fussy buyers may not be impressed. It also looks very ugly in my eyes, and to leave my flat in such aesthetically unappealing condition, just feels rude and a bit insulting.

Anyway, I'm not too sure what I can do about the situation. Seeing as Ascent Loft Conversions did such a poor job the first time, I don't really want to bother asking them to do it a second time, especially when I've had to wait such a long time.

If any readers have any comments or ideas, please let me know.

In the morning I popped round next door and had a chat to the builders who work for Ascent Loft Conversions. They were very friendly but the guvnor was not around.

Later on in the day I got hold of the site manager. He had a look at the hole, told me it was because a metal bracket had been pulled out of the wall, and said he'd send someone round to fix it soon (according to my memory, he said two weeks, but I could be wrong).

It was caused by Ascent Loft Conversions who are doing some renovation work next door.

Ascent Loft Conversions Put a Hole In My Wall

I arrived home after a hard day of work to discover rubble all over the stairs.

Upon reaching the top floor I discovered a hole in the wall. It was about 8 inches square in size. I was not particularly pleased as the builders next door have been causing a lot of noise.

Also, many cracks have appeared in the walls of my flat since they started work. I spoke to the site manager about it and he popped round for a look. He insisted that they were settlement cracks caused by the shoddy workmanship of the guys who renovated my flat last year. Being rather ignorant of these matters, I had no idea whether or not he was being truthful.
